About
A wine sommelier, Sovna Puri is the media spokesperson for Sula, with her efforts & backgrounds profiled exclusively in leading newspapers & magazines in the country. She is a frequent invitee of wine clubs and has over 10 years of industry experience with regularly attending social wine tastings.
After Sula, she completed the WSET Level 4 Diploma and the WSET Educator Training & became one of only two ‘WSET Certified Educators’ in India.
She headed tastings & training at Sula Vineyards till 2015, where she was also the General Manager of Marketing. Along with her team, she has conducted over 10,000 wine tastings & trainings across India.
Her first steps into the wine industry began with an internship in France where she also met a sommelier for the first time & was initiated into the importance of one at a restaurant.
Her first experience with a wine cellar was also in France & she attributes that meeting to her current involvement with wine.
She successfully completed advanced courses in wine & spirits & wine educators training, graduating with merit.
Her aim is to increase wine awareness, with the vision of making tastings a social norm among wine consumers in India

- Sovna has worked as the “Assistant Head Sommelier” for over 2 years with Benares, an Indian Michelin starred restaurant.
- She was awarded the “Phoenix Leading Lady Awards 2019” under the category “Personal Brilliance – Breaking Unconventional Barriers.
- Sovna is the only Indian to have been awarded the “Future 50 Awards”, identifying her as among 50 professionals from across the globe who have made a notable contribution to the beverage industry.
- “Educator of the Year” by Vedanta Foundation, 2020.
